What will happen to these 11 GMA shows?
These 11 GMA shows are reportedly on the verge of going off the air amid the new normal due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The broadcast industry suffered from this crisis just like other industries in the Philippines. Because of the pandemic, certain protocols and health measures are being observed now in studios and on the set.
This situation also caused a delay in shooting and taping and as a result, there is a lesser income than the industry’s standard before the pandemic. Reportedly, the GMA network already terminated contractual employees but those working in the media company clarified that there was no “mass layoff”.
However, it was already reported that two of the shows of the Kapuso network – the State of the Nation, hosted by Jessica Soho and Tonight with Arnold Clavio – will bid goodbye. The Kapuso, amid the pandemic, aired the replays of the various shows.
As the situation lighten, some shows already went back to taping. However, certain protocols are strictly implemented.
Behind this hopeful situation for some shows, there are shows that are on the verge of going off the air. Based on the article from PEP, here are the shows that are “nanganganib”.
- Biyahe ni Drew
- QRT
- Balitanghali
- News TV Live
- Good News
- Ang Pinaka
- Pop Talk
- Pinas Sarap
- Bawal Ang Pasaway
- Reel Time
- Investigative Documentaries
It was said that there is no assurance that the aforementioned shows will be back on the air. They need to prove that their shows are profitable. Based on the article, a person from GMA denied this situation.
As of now, the proof if this situation is really not true will be seen if these 11 GMA shows will resume the taping.
