New PhilHealth Chief Says He’d Educate Himself In Public Health
DANTE GIERRAN – The Former NBI head turned New PhilHealth Chief Dante Gierran said he would do some self studying on public health.
Upon his appoint as PhilHealth’s new CEO, the public highly criticized the the administration for their decision. Furthermore, Gierran himself admitted that he knew nothing about public health.
However, according to an article from ABS-CBN, Gierran asserted that he would educate himself regarding public health. “I admit, ano ba ang alam ko sa public health?”, the new PhilHealth CEO stated.
Meanwhile, netizens have expressed major concerns regarding the newly appoint PhilHealth chief. Some even said that Gierran shouldn’t be allowed to do On the Job Training (OJT) when heading a state-run health insurance firm.

As a response to his critics, Gierran said that they could comment about his position all they want. Because, according to him, “it’s their right” to criticize him. “Hayaan niyo sila ‘yung nagko-comment. It’s their right”, he said.
Due to the allegations of corruption within PhilHealth, several high ranking officials of the state-run health insurance firm resigned from their post due to medical reasons. Among the allegations against the firm was the overpricing of IT equipment.
