GOT Creators Join ‘Star Wars’ Director For Netflix Series
NETFLIX – The creators of “Game of Thrones” joined the “Star Wars” director for Netflix’s ambitious new Chinese sci-fi adaptation.
The American media services provider and production company, Netflix offers online streaming of tv series and films. As of April 2020, the streaming giant had over 193 million subscribers worldwide.
The company has released 126 original series and movies. Last July, they became the largest media company by market cap.
On Tuesday, September 1, Netflix announced that the creators of the hit series “Game of Thrones” will team up with Rian Johnson, the director of the critically acclaimed “Star Wars” movie “The Last Jedi” and Brad Pitt for a new series.
In Liu Cixin’s science-fiction trilogy, “The Three-Body Problem,” tells the story of humanity’s first contact with aliens. The apocalyptic series will be an international tv series for Netflix.
“Liu Cixin’s trilogy is the most ambitious science-fiction series we’ve read, taking readers on a journey from the 1960s until the end of time, from life on our pale blue dot to the distant fringes of the universe,” “Thrones” duo David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, who will co-write.”

David Benioff and D. B. Weiss will be joined as executive producers by Johnson and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment company. Liu said the show “transcends time and the confines of nations, cultures, and races; one that compels us to consider the fate of humankind as a whole.”
Former President Barack Obama is one of Liu’s fans. He once said the “wildly imaginative” novel made “my day-to-day problems with Congress seem fairly petty — not something to worry about. Aliens are about to invade!”
According to the report, GOT creators signed a multi-year deal with the streaming giant to write, produce, and direct new films and series. Weiss and Benioff are currently discussing “the books compulsively” with other producers.
