According to GMA News, “pastillas” scam is a bribery scheme which allows thousands of foreigners to illegally enter the Philippines.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed the said complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman. The kickback in the said scheme, which was first bared by BI officer Allison Chong, ranged from P20,000 to P50,000, as reported.

This came from NBI Special Action Unit chief Emetrio Donggallo who also said the following:

Among those named respondents also include a security guard of the BI at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport who became chief of staff of Port Operations Division.. He was reportedly the middle man in the scheme.

Based on the report, the bureau urged to have the 20 BI staff suspended and removed from office.

NBI director Eric Distor also said that the complaint covers only the first batch of respondents.

Hahabulin natin sila,”
