MERALCO Bill Shocks Pokwang With Factory-Like Computation

MERALCO Bill Shocks Pokwang Causing Confusion

MERALCO BILL SHOCKS POKWANG – Much like many of MERALCO’s customers, Pokwang also had issues with an unprecedented spike in her electricity bill.

Recently, MERALCO has been in the hot seat for its high electricity bill issue. As such, the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) imposed a P19 million fine for anomalies regarding bill computations.

However, MERALCO contested this and said they would seek legal advice, claiming it has fully complied with ERC regulations. Meanwhile, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian warned that the electricity distributor may lose their franchise if found to be non-compliant.

Among those who complained about the high electricity bill was actress and comedienne, Pokwang. She shared on her Facebook that she recently received a “factory-like” electricity bill from Meralco.

Confused, she asked if there were other numbers to contact Meralco Masinag as she tried desperately to come in contact with the company. Sadly, she said nobody was answering her calls.

According to an article from Push, Pokwang said:

May iba pa bang hotline ang Meralco Masinag? Wala sumasagot at di sinasagot mga tawag… ng hula lang ata sila ng computation… 4 na buwan P 132,312.00 ano kami pabrika?

Currently, potentially thousands more had issues with Meralco. Since the start of the coronavirus quarantine, MERALCO shifted to an averaging scheme for its consumers’ bills. However, this led to many customers experiencing “bill shocks”.

Following this, the ERC ordered MERALCO to re-issue the meter-based electricity bill in June. As per the article, this was done in an attempt to refund excess payments.
