Ted Failon Bids Emotional Farewell To ABS-CBN After 30 Years

TED FAILON – Multi-awarded broadcast journalist Ted Failon gave an emotional farewell message to ABS-CBN.

Following the franchise denial of the ABS-CBN network, several employees and talents started to seek refuge in other tv networks. On August 30, ABS-CBN released a statement regarding the departure of veteran journalist Ted Failon from the network.

Ted is one of the news pillars of ABS-CBN. Viewers admired him for his brave investigative report and public service. TV Patrol anchor is leaving the Kapamilya network after 30 years.

ABS-CBN said Ted Failon “will make his final appearance on ‘TV Patrol’ and ‘Failon Ngayon sa Teleradyo’ on August 31.” The radio news anchor became emotional as his radio program aired for the last time on Monday.

During the program, Ted recounted his 30 years of service in ABS-CBN. He turned emotional when he recalled how he started as an employee of the media company.

Ted Failon shared how he asked ABS-CBN Chairman Gabby Lopez if he could return to the company after being elected as 1st district Rep. of Leyte in 2001. He said, “Hunyo pa lang ng 2002 ay pinuntahan ko na po si Ginoong Gabby Lopez at sinabi sa kanya ‘Boss, gusto ko na pong bumalik ng ABS-CBN’. Sa aking natatandaan, ang sabi niya sa ‘kin, ‘bakit umaayaw ka kaagad?”

“Ang sabi ko sa kanya, ‘kasi boss hindi po yata ako pupuwede doon.’ Ang sabi sa akin ni boss Gabby ‘Oh sige, walang problema yan’,” he added.

Ted Failon also shared how he turned now job as an anchor. He said he preferred radio news anchor because he really loves radio. He said he always wanted to be a radio announcer since he was a child.

Mahal na mahal ko ang radyo, alisin niyo na lahat sa akin, ‘wag lang ang radyo. Bata pa lang ako talagang gusto ko na maging radio announcer.  I fell in love with radio since I was a child,” he said.
