Ria Atayde Clarifies Network Transfer is Not a Betrayal to ABS-CBN
Former Kapamilya actress, Ria Atayde has clarified herself for hosting a new talk show with Pokwang and Pauleen Luna on TV5 network.
Ria Atayde admitted that she felt mixed emotions when she found out that she had an offer to be one of the hosts of the TV5 new talk show Chika, BESH (Basta Every Day Super Happy) – the blocktimer show produced by Archangel Media, the sister company of APT Entertainment.
Ria joins Pokwang and Pauleen Luna-Sotto on the show. The 28-year-old actress-TV host said she was grateful to host a talk show, adding that it was a big deal.
However, she felt hesitant at first because she did not want the feeling that she was leaving ABS-CBN on the air. ABS-CBN is her home network since she started showbiz in 2015.
In an interview with PEP, Ria told that she found out about Archangel Media’s offer from her handler in Star Magic, the talent management arm of ABS-CBN. The handler also said that ABS-CBN bosses know about the offer.
“Two or three weeks before we started working, I got a text from my handler saying that I was requested by TV5 for a show with Mamang Pokwang and Pauleen.”

“And when I saw that everybody was okay with it, they were supportive about it including the bosses of ABS-CBN, I was, like, ‘Then maybe it’s okay to do this.”
“This is not betrayal of my network. It’s an opportunity amidst the pandemic. That’s not something you say no to,” she clarified.
July 23 when Ria went to TV5’s studio for a pictorial with Chika, BESH co-hosts Pauleen and Pokwang. So it is inevitable that the public will be surprised when some of the names of Kapamilya stars appear on other TV networks.
But Ria insisted that ABS-CBN management has blessed her work with TV5. “Sinigurado ko talaga. Personally, given how affected I am by the shutdown, given how angry I still am about it, to me it’s still an injustice.”
Ria also mentioned, in her previous interview with PEP.ph on August 5, that Star Magic recommended her to Archangel Media when the film company was looking for hosts for Chika, BESH.
Ria still a part of Star Magic talent. She added, “If anything, I’m glad this gives me a platform. At least, this way, kahit wala yung network, I’m still able to voice out my concerns and opinions, di ba?”
