Live-action series of Powerpuff Girls is coming
The Powerpuff Girls, the classic animated kids’ series shown on the Cartoon Network, is getting a live-action remake.
The show was created by Craig McCracken and first aired in 1998. In the original series, the character of Professor Utonium combined sugar, spice, and everything nice with the mysterious Chemical X. The result of that experiment leads to the creation of elementary school-aged girls named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup who have superpowers.
The superhero team also hit the big screen in 2002 and it lasted for six seasons and 78 episodes and that was between 1998 and 2005. In 2016, the rebooted version of the animated series started airing on Cartoon Network.
Based on the article from Variety, Powepuff Girls is set to have it live-action remake and it is already in development at The CW. However, the cute and adorable girls will have a major transformation.

Reportedly, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup will no longer be the sweet and cuddly girls. They will no be “disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting,” based on the article.
Writers and executive producers Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody will hail the project and it will be under the production of Warner Bros. Television. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden are the executive producers via the Berlanti Productions.
The CW and Berlanti were able to produce wide variation of programming featuring superheroes through the DC Universe. Will the new live-action Powerpuff Girls series receive the same warmth?
