Over 30 LSIs Take Refuge Outside Libingan Ng Mga Bayani
LSIs TAKE REFUGE – Over 30 Locally Stranded Individuals camped outside the “Libingan Ng Mga Bayani” in Taguig.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, thousands were left stranded, unable to return to their provinces. Sadly, even after several months and numerous programs, the issue still persists.
One of these initiatives was the highly criticized “Hatid Tulong Program”. Last month, thousands of LSIs were placed in the Rizal Sports Complex hoping to catch a ride home. Meanwhile, the Hatid Tulong center in Taguig had difficulties with walk-ins.
According to an article from GMA, Assistant Secretary Joseph Encabo said:
Marami pa tayong mga LSIs. Mga kababayan na napag-iwanan, kaunting pasensya na lang. Sa lalong mabilis na panahon, kami po’y tatawag sa inyo at magte-text para mabigyan ng proper instruction ang inyong pag-uwi
Some of the LSIs said that they received a call that there was a Balik Probinsya program. However, when they arrived at the center, there was none. When they got there, they were immediately turned away by the guards because there was no registration.
Meanwhile, the guard explained:
Napakalapit po kasi natin sa quarantine facility at delikado po sila’t baka mahawa po sila kaya namin sila inaalis dito.
