Drug Suspect From Cabanatuan City Killed In Shootout

DRUG SUSPECT FROM CABANATUAN CITY – A suspected drug peddler from Cabanatuan City was recently killed in a reported shootout with the police.

This occurred during a buy-bust operation in Cabanatuan City in the Nueva Ecija province, according to a report from Inquirer.

The suspect, identified as Rafael Beltran, who has the alias Apeng, resisted arrest and fired shots after discovering that he was dealing with an poseur-buyer.

This came from a statement from Cabanatuan City police chief Lieutenant Colonel Heryl Bruno.

His retaliation prompted officers to fire back. The shootout ended with Apeng dead. The suspect was said to have operate in Nueva Ecija and nearby areas.

Based on the report, retrieved from the suspect were a homemade .9mm pistol, eight sachets of illegal drugs and a motorcycle.

Meanwhile in Danao City, Cebu province, about 15,000 stalks of fully grown ‘drug plants’ were burned by authorities.

The burning occurred on Sunday at Barangay Langosig in the aforementioned city in Cebu province.

However, some netizens slammed the act, saying that they should distinguish between the said ‘plant’ and hemp.
