Phivolcs Releases Latest Updates About Taal Volcano
TAAL VOLCANO UPDATE – The state seismology agency Phivolcs recorded six volcanic earthquakes as it remains under alert level 1.
On Wednesday (August 19, 2020), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology released the latest updates about Taal Volcano. The volcano shows signs of irregularities and unrest.
Phivolcs says Mt. Taal shows signs of irregularities on Tuesday (August 18, 2020) together with other volcanoes including Mayon, Bulusan, and Kanlaon. The incident raised the concern of the Filipino people.

The volcanology agency recorded at least six volcanic earthquakes in the past 24-hour period. About 20-meter high weak to moderate steam or fumarolic activity has been found from the Main Crater.
DOST-PHIVOLCS also reminded the residents near the volcano to take precautionary measures for possible sudden steam-driven or phreatic explosions, volcanic earthquakes, minor ashfall, and lethal accumulations as Taal remains under alert level 1.
The seismology agency also prohibits the entry into Taal’s Permanent Danger Zone or PDZ for their own safety.
