PNP Chief Denies Baguio Concert Party Said Only Dinner Occurred
BAGUIO CONCERT PARTY – Recently, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Archie Gamboa decried claims that he had a concert party.
However, the PNP chief admitted to having a dinner party with PNP officials. Additionally, Gamboa emphasized that there was social distancing and health protocols were imposed.
According to a report from Philstar, Gamboa went viral over the weekend for allegedly brining several police bodyguards in Baguio who bypassed the border control checkpoint. However, Gamboa asserted that the circulating news about the incident was fake.
There is no truth to the allegations spreading on social media. For the record, there were only three vehicles, which is less than the PNP chief security protocol. All of us went through the triage as per the City of Baguio’s regulations
Meanwhile, Baguio Police director Col. Allen Co also vouched that the reports were fake news. But, he did confirm that Gamboa and his group arrived in the city for a supposedly Testimonial Parade for a retiring police official.
Although this testimonial parade was supposed to be on the down-low. Moreover, Gamboa asserted that there was no party or concert despite complaints that have circulated online. Along with this, Baguio residents also complained about having a private event allowed in the city.
This was because some residents still had difficulties re-entering Baguio due to strict quarantine protocols. But, as a response, the PNP said there was proper social distancing practiced during the dinner.
As per the report, Gamboa said:
Social distancing was strictly followed and the food was individually catered. My contingent and I stayed at the CPNP Cottage at the Navy Base the whole time.
Mayor Benjie Magalong was well aware of my presence and our activities were duly coordinated
