Roque Announces Criteria For COVID-19 Vaccine Testers / Clinical Trials

COVID-19 VACCINE TESTERS – Earlier, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced the criteria for those who want to be included in the clinical trials for COVID-19.

Recently, the Philippines and Russia started to plan for phase 3 of it clinical trials for the new Sputnik V vaccine. Furthermore, the test would run until march of next year and would be done in unison in Manila and Moscow.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, Roque stated:

Mula Oktubre naman po hanggang Marso ng susunod na taon ay magkakaroon ng clinical trial phase 3. Simultaneous po ‘yan sa Russia at Pilipinas

(From October until March of next year, there would be a 3rd phase of the clinical trials. This would be done simultaneously in Russia and the Philippines).

Along with this, Roque also announced the criteria for those who want to volunteer for the study. Furthermore, Roque explained that the trials would be run on a voluntary basis.

As per the article, Roque said:

Wala pong sapilitan ‘yan. Kung sino lang po ang gusto mag-volunteer, puwedeng magpasaksak.

Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte earlier stated that he would gladly volunteer to be the first Filipino injected with the vaccine. Roque also said that Duterte might be inoculated by the vaccine on May 1 2020.

However, his statements were taken in a demeaning manner by some foreign news outlets. Along with this, there was even a Nigerian online news website called Duterte “Russia’s Lab Rat”.
