And in this case, hoarding and overpricing has a huge tendency. This is which is why Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced just recently that sellers who will ignore and not follow the suggested retail price (SRP) will face appropriate sanction such as they are to be fined for up to Php 2 million. The SRP for non-medical grade face shields is at Php 26.00 to Php 50.00.

According to report from GMA Network’s Unang Hirit, this information has already been disseminated to various platforms. Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said, “Ang penalty doon — this is covered kasi by the Price Act dahil declared ng DOH (Department of Health) na basic commodity siya or essential good — P2 million ang maximum, P5,000 minimum.”

Also, if one is found guilty for profiteering, he or she might face imprisonment of five to 15 years. The SRP is for non-medical grade face shields. Accordingly, the said non-medical grade face shields has the following specifications:

  • comes with adjustable and to be firmly put in the head and fit the forehead
  • covers the full face
  • made of robust materials which can be easily cleaned and disinfected, disposed, or be reused
