According to GMA News, the Malacañang Palace recently issued this statement after Russia showed willingness to supply vaccines to the Philippines last week.
Russia also proposed conducting clinical trials and the setting up of a vaccine production hub in the Philippines.
“The Philippines stands ready to work with Russia on clinical trials, vaccine supply and production, and other areas deemed practicable by relevant Philippine and Russian agencies to address this global health emergency,”
“Like similar bilateral and multilateral arrangements, all cooperation initiatives will be consistent with protocols for testing and health standards.”
The Palace also said that it appreciates the nation’s offer, adding that international cooperation is key to effectively fight against the pandemic.
“Consistent with the President’s independent foreign policy, we continue to work with partners across the world to ensure access to safe vaccines,”
Based on the report, President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said that he was willing to be the first to receive the antiviral shots which Russia developed.
Duterte also said that Russia may be giving the country its vaccines for free.
