More Than 300 Public Schools Hold Dry Run For Blended Learning

BLENDED LEARNING – More than 300 schools have held dry runs for blended learning across basic education levels.

According to an article from Manila Bulletin, the Department of Education (DepEd) aims to see how blended and distance learning will proceed actually when classes start on August 24.

Face-to-face classes are prohibited this coming school year due to the thread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In order for education to continue amid the pandemic, DepEd will implement blended and distance learning wherein modalities were designed to suit every needs and capacities of students.

The education department noted that blended and distance learning have been implemented in the nation via the Alternative Learning System,

The said methods will now be used as a major component for delivery of education.

In order to ensure the efficiency of this modality once it is applied in the public school system, the department has been running dry run simulations per region.

“We have not monitored major challenges,” 

“The dry run results are very inspiring,” 

“Our SDSs (schools division superintendents), principals, and fellow teachers have been able to demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness and harnessing critical support for stakeholders, particularly LGU (local government unit) leaders.”

According to the report, there are 345 schools who have conducted blended learning dry runs per region, with Central Visayas having the highest number of schools at 169, followed by:

  • Central Luzon – 49 schools
  • Cagayan Valley – 38 schools
  • Calabarzon – 37 schools
  • Davao Region – 10 schools
  • Cordillera Administrative Region – 8 schools
  • Northern Mindanao – 7 schools
  • Soccsksargen – 6 schools
  • Eastern Visayas – 5 schools
  • Metro Manila – 4 schools
  • Caraga – 4 schools
  • Mimaropa – 3 schools
  • Western Visayas – 3 schools
  • Ilocos – 1 school
