Protest Movement Against 5th SONA Of Presidente Duterte In Motion
5TH SONA OF PRESIDENT DUTERTE – Several groups have put into motion a protest movement against the 5th SONA of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The SONA (State of the Nation Adress) which is going to be President Duterte’s 5th in his term, will be held on July 27, 2020, just 10 days from now, as of this posting.
According to CNN, the said groups wanted to protest regarding current issues such as unemployment, militaristic approach in battling against COVID-19, and the implementation of the Anti-Terrorism Law.
During the preparation of their protest, several groups indifferent sectors of society have reported to join together in what they call “SONAgkaisa” (possibly a portmanteau of SONA and Nagkaisa), says Bagong Alyansang Makabayan spokersperson Renato Reyes.
The protest will be held in Quezon City, where the President will have his SONA.
Based on the report, the Quezon City government earlier issued a memorandum, allowing a warrant less arrest for those who will violate quarantine protocols as a means to curb the spread of COVID-19.

A maximum of 50 people were allowed to physically come to the annual event. Those who will attend are required to undergo rapid-test.
Upon learning of the fifth SONA, some netizens on social media expressed their distraught and apathy.
