Three individuals were sentenced to death in Iran for participating in protests. The execution is expected momentarily. Executing these three people sends a terrible signal to the world and should not be done! #StopExecutionsInIran

Meanwhile, according to an Iranian user on Reddit, Iranians have continued to protest against the executions. As a response, the user claimed that the government has cut the internet in some cities.

Iranians are protesting against Iran’s regime and the government is shooing the internet down. The internet’s down in some cities right now. PLEASE BE OUR VOICE before we go voiceless.

This wouldn’t be the first time Iran had cut-off the media from their residents. Last year, there was a week-long total shutdown of the internet. The order was mandated by the Supreme National Security Council and was imposed by the Ministry of ICT.

Furthermore, the blackout was part of the government’s efforts to suppress fuel protests. Additionally, it was the first ever blackout that isolated an entire nation.

Here is a report conducted by NetBlocks, a platform that tracks internet disruptions around the world. According to NetBlocks, the blackout started around 10 p.m. yesterday, July 16, 2020.
