Lopez Family Should Just Sell ABS-CBN – Rep. Villafuerte

This is what Rep. Villafuerte suggested to the Lopez family

Camarines Sur’s 2nd District Representative LRay Villafuerte suggested to the Lopez family to just sell ABS-CBN.

Villafuerte was among the 70 congressmen who voted to junk the franchise application of the Kapamilya network. In line with the defeat of the TV giant in its fight for a 25-year franchise, the management had to lay off several employees.

However, based on a previous article, ABS-CBN promised to provide laid off employees their separation fees. Despite this promise, it is still heartbreaking for those who have fought for the TV network until the very end.

Previously, Rep. Villafuerte filed a House Resolution recommending the use of the vacant ABS-CBN’s TV and radio frequencies for distance learning. Department of Education, previously stated that classes will start next month but this does not necessarily mean face-to-face meetings.

With the fact that not all household have internet connection, especially in remote and rural areas, Villafuerte suggested that ABS-CBN frequencies can be used.

In a recent interview on ANC’s Headstart, the lawmaker made another suggestion to the Lopez family. After the lengthy question of Karen Davila saying that the Congress should have corrected the network instead of completely shutting it down, here’s what Rep. Villafuerte said:

“My suggestion to the Lopez family, they just sell the corporation, and if they really love the 11,000 employees or more and if they really want to serve the Filipino people, ibenta na lang nila ‘yung kumpanya.”

The lawmaker added that he will support the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN if its under a new management.
