Miami Is The New Wuhan, As City Becomes Epicenter For COVID-19
MIAMI IS THE NEW WUHAN – The United States continues to struggle against the coronavirus pandemic with Miami becoming the new epicenter.
According to Dr. Lilian Abbo, an infectious disease expert, Miami was now experiencing what Wuhan went through five months ago. Based on an article from Mediaite, Abbo made the announcement after Florida set the record for the highest COVID-19 cases recorded.

On Saturday, the state confirmed 15,300 patients tested positive for the new coronavirus. This would be the highest one-day record among any state. Afterward, the state then saw an additional 12,624 infections the day after.
With this, the state has now reported a total of 282,435 coronavirus cases. Of this number, 67,713 or 24% were confirmed in Miami-Dade County. Along with this, 4,277 have succumbed to the virus in the state with an average 1.5% mortality rate.
The continued increase in the number of cases reflects the state’s previous inclination toward not making face masks mandatory. But, with the rising number of cases, the states imposed numerous countermeasures against the virus.
However, the number still continued to rise. As per the article, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez said that the real number of infected could be 10 times more than the official count would reflect.
This meant that there may still be more undetected COVID-19 cases spreading in the state. Currently, the United States has over 3,470,000 coronavirus cases. Of that number, more than 138,247 have succumbed to the virus. Meanwhile, there had been 1,549,469 recoveries.
