FEJODAP President Zenaida “Zeny” Maranan Passes Away At 75
ZENY MARANAN – The president of the transport group FEJODAP, Zenaida “Zeny” Maranan has passed away on Saturday due to cardiac arrest, a family member announced.
The president of the transport group Federation of Jeepney Operator and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP) and former 1UTAK party list, Rep. Zenaida Maranan, passed away on Saturday, her family confirmed on Sunday, July 12.
Maranan served as the representative of the transport group in Congress from 2012 to 2013. She has been battling for the return of the public utility vehicles on the road which was sidelined due to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Zeny Maranan said the government ban on public utility vehicles on the road is depriving poor drivers of their only source of livelihood. Amid the pandemic, several drivers were forced to beg for money on the streets.

Based on a report from GMA News, Zeny Maranan’s family said FEJODAP’s leader died peacefully in her sleep. They said she died due to a “lingering illness.”
“(Maranan) passed away peacefully in her sleep, after being confined in a local hospital due to a lingering illness. Her family requesting for privacy in this time of grieving,”
“Her remains will be [available] for public viewing on Monday until Tuesday at the Haven of Angels Memorial Chapels and Crematorium along Sumulong Highway, Antipolo,” it added.
According to the report, Zeny Maranan’s nephew-in-law Ronald Zapanta said the transport leader passed away on Saturday afternoon due to cardiac arrest. She was 75-year-old.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Undersecretary Jojo Garcia said Ka Zeny’s passing is a big loss to the transport sector. “Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya ni Ma’am Zeny Maranan…Malaking kawalan po sa ating tranportasyon, ‘yung mga kumakatawan po, ‘yung pagkawala po ni Ma’am Zeny,” he said.
