VIDEO: Fil-Am Family Racially Attacked By San Francisco Tech CEO

Fil-Am Family Speaks Out After Tech CEO’s Racist Rant

FIL-AM FAMILY – The Fil-Am family is speaking out after a San Francisco tech CEO Michael Lofthouse went on a racist rant.

Racism is a belief that groups of humans is superior or inferior to another. Lots of people have been posting racist video clips on social media platforms to call for end to racism.

Last month, the ABS-CBN News team experienced discrimination during coverage in the US. Reporters Ginger Conejero and TJ Manotoc called “pigs” and “disease carriers” during coverage.

Recently, a Filipino-American family was racially attacked by SF Tech CEO. The July 4th video of the young Fil-Am went viral on social media. Based on a report from Balitang America, Jordan Chan’s family was celebrating the birthday of her aunt at a restaurant in Carmel, California – when out of nowhere, a man started hurling racial insults at them.

The birthday celebrants’ husband, Raymond Orosa, shared their horrific experience. He said he and his wife have lived in the US for 26 and they have never experienced that kind of hate. He said the waitress and another guest defended his family.

“We did it in a non-violent manner. We weren’t trying to provoke a fight or anything,” he said.

According to the report, the attacker was identified as Michael Lofthouse, a CEO of a San Francisco-based tech company, Solid8. He is also an immigrant himself – from the UK. After receiving flak from netizens for his actions, he sent his apologies and called his behavior appalling.

“My behavior in the video is appalling. This was clearly a moment where I lost control and made incredible hurtful and divisive comments. I would like to deeply apologize to the Chan family. I can only imagine the stress and pain they feel,” Lofthouse said.

Based on the report, Raymond Orosa said he’s happy his niece took the video of the incident because he wants it to be a learning moment for people. “Help each other in a non-violent kind of way. Telling people that Michael Lofthouse exists and that we should be careful. And the bigger the circle of safety becomes the better we can protect each other,” he said.
