This is the proposed national budget for 2021
Department of Budget and Management Secretary Wendel Avisado revealed the proposed amount for the national budget for the year 2021.
Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the P4.1 trillion budget for the whole country. Based on the report from the budget department, that was equivalent to 19.5 percent of projected gross domestic product.
For 2020’s budget, the social services sector was allocated with the biggest amount at PhP1.495 trillion. The said amount is 36.5 percent of the whole budget. This was broken down into several projects such as Universal Access for Quality Tertiary Education with allotted PhP39 billion while the Basic Education Facilities Program got the PhP36 billion.
Furthermore, PhP172.4 billion was given to the Universal Health Care Program and the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program received a budget of PhP108.8 billion. The PhP36.5 billion was for the Unconditional Cash Transfer Program.

This year, due to COVID-19, the government has to focus on providing budge to sectors related in the fight against the pandemic. Based on the report from the Manila Bulletin, DBM Secretary Wendel Avisado revealed the proposed national budget for 2021.
He said that it is going to raise to P4.3 trillion next year from the P4.1 trillion this year. The budget secretary also shared the budget that has been used in line with the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“So far ang nagagastos na po ng gobyerno for COVID-19 response ay P355,677,151,125, of which P247,214,000,000 ay galing po sa pooled savings,” Avisado said. However, the DBM Secretary has not revealed further details yet regarding the proposed national budget for next year.
