Learner’s Package Including Free Internet Load For 85,000 Students In Makati

FREE INTERNET LOAD – Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Philippines is gearing up for the “new normal” in education.

To avoid coronavirus transmissions, the Department of Education (DepEd) has opted for a mixed learning environment. Here, students would enroll in online classes while some switch between online and physical ones.

However, one of the main concerns people have with the new system is the availability of resources for both students and teachers. There are thousands of educators and students who do not have the means to conduct or attend online lectures.

As such, the city of Makati rolled out its “Learner’s Package” that aims to provide 85,000 public school students with free internet load. According to an article from ABS-CBN, pre-school to senior high school students would be given 5 hours of free internet every day.

Along with the internet load, the Learner’s package would also include an On-The-Go (OTG) flash drive, printed modules, and even washable face masks. As per the article, the flash drives would contain learning modules to be used by those without internet connections.

Moreover, the modules would include videos, illustrations, and interactive exercises that was developed by DepEd Makati. Because it is in the OTG format, it could be used by phones, computers, or even smart televisions.

Additionally, teachers would also be given free internet load for them to conduct their online lectures, activities, and lessons. Aside from this, the students would also receive free school uniforms, leather, and rubber shoes along with other school supplies.
