Meanwhile across the world, Enzo live-streamed his solo protest on Instagram on June 18, 2020, a day before the Philippines’ Independence Day in front of the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Enzo said he was saddened that his fellow Filipinos were not allowed to protest against the Duterte administration. Furthermore, in a Facebook post, he said:
“Today, I chose to stand outside the United Nations HQ for 3 hours (I have a recorded live video, on my timeline, showing the second half).
It took me three days to decide I was actually going to do this. How did I arrive at this decision? I realized lengthy Facebook posts don’t do the trick…”
He added that he gets angry every time he hears news about the state of the government in the Philippines.
it only makes me more angry whenever news of our government comes out in the Philippines. The feeling of being useless doesn’t help either—whether it’s because I’m in New York or the government keeps coming up with ways to silence us back home.
Meanwhile, according to an article from PEP, his father, Edu Manzano said that he was proud of his son for his actions and proudly said “That’s my boy!!”.
