Dear Pilipinas Sarap Mong Mahalin among top Twitter trends on Wednesday
The hashtag “Dear Pilipinas Sarap Mong Mahalin” is one of the top Twitter trends on June 17, following the controversial swearing post of singer-actress Lea Salonga.
To recall, on June 15, Lea shared a post on Facebook as she wrote ““Dear Pilipinas, p***** ina, ang hirap mong mahalin.” Apparently, this is due to what she feels regarding the things happening in the country.
Basing on her reply to Constitutional Reforms advocate Orion Perez’s comment, netizens speculated that the Broadway star was either talking about the Anti-Terrorism Bill or the guilty verdict on Rappler CEO Maria Ressa.
This received a reaction from radio host Vivian Velez. She pointed out that the current administration is doing its best to improve that “rotten system” and that unity among Filipinos in these times is a vital factor in order for this to happen.
On Wednesday, netizens tweeted the things that make them feel proud to be a Filipino using the hashtag “Dear Pilipinas Sarap Mong Mahalin”.
Some showed beautiful places in the Philippines that they have visited. A netizen even shared that though armed conflicts took her loved ones, she still loves the country.
Some netizens fired back to Lea Salonga for what she posted.
On the other hand, there were those who defended the singer-actress and the points that she was stating in her post.
Those who showed support to what the singer-actress has posted also made the “I Stand With Lea Salonga” among the top Twitter trend on Tuesday. Apparently, this day is the turn of those who opposed her statement.
