The local government of Guimaras pushes the Resident ID System as a precautionary measure for residents of Buenavista amid the COVID-19 threat.
The resident ID system is now being promoted in the town of Buenavista in Guimaras province as the threat of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is still not contain despite the province is COVID-free.
According to Mayor Eugene Reyes, this aims to easily recognize the resident who will go out of the town and will return from Iloilo. This is the way to ease and improve the system for facilitating the residents, based on the report of ABS-CBN.
The ID card contains the information needed as the person who owns the ID has a health declaration if they ever leave Buenvista and want to go to Iloilo. The ID also has a bar code and only needs to scan it to the dock so the identity of the resident can be quickly identified.
This also aims to avoid the long queus when boarding. The mayor believes this is also the best way to speed up contact tracing in the event of virus infection in their area.
As of now, the Guimaras remains COVID-free. Meanwhile, construction on a Buenavista wharf continues, where computers and scanners that will be used for the resident ID card will be placed.
