Authorities Shutdown A Beijing Wholesale Market After New Cases Of COVID-19 Rise
BEIJING MARKET SHUTDOWN – Health authorities have temporarily shut down a major wholesale market in Beijing.
Recently, Beijing had seen a rise in locally transmitted coronavirus cases over the past two days. As such, the agricultural wholesale market, Xinfadi was closed at 3:00 AM.
According to a report from ABS-CBN, two men who worked at a meat research center were reported to be positive for COVID-19. However, it was not clear how the men contracted the deadly disease.

Due to rising concerns of a second wave, Beijing health authorities already ceased that trade of beef and mutton in Xinfadi. Moreover, major markets in Beijing also removed salmon on their shelves after the virus was found on chopping boards.

As per the report, over 10,000 people who came in contact with the market would take nucleic acid tests to detect coronavirus infections. Meanwhile, the city government said plans to reopen the schools for students grade 1 – 3 would also be halted.
Currently, China had reported 11 fresh coronavirus cases. Along with this, they also documented seven asymptomatic cases on Friday. Of this number 6 cases were from Beijing, all locally transmitted cases.
Globally, the number of coronavirus cases had already reached 7,741,062. Along with this, the virus had already claimed more than 428,352 lives. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries had reached 3,966,877.
