WHAT IS TANGLAD – If you’re a Filipino, then chances are you’ve been told by your parents to buy tanglad from the store or get it at the side of your canal.
In English, it is called “Lemongrass”. It’s abundant on the in the Philippines and could be found almost anywhere. Moreover, it has very distinct features such as having slender and long leaves. Also, this plant is packed with nutrients, vitamins and minerals that could benefit our bodies greatly.
There are several types of lemongrass but the most common one found in the Philippines is of the Cymbopogon family. It has a smell similar to lemons but tastes different.
Due to its abundance, this plant is widely used in an array of dishes. It is mostly used in cooking curries, soups, teas, and other menus.
Furthermore, it also contains some medicinal properties and was used by our ancestors to treat and prevent various illnesses.
