Illegal Chinese Medicine Seized In NAIA After Declaring It Was “Vitamins”
ILLEGAL CHINESE MEDICINE – As the quarantine restrictions eased in the Philippines, international flights have begun to resume.
However, this opened up an opportunity for illegal international business to continue operations. Such a thing happened earlier in the Ninoy Aquino Internation Airport (NAIA).
According to a report from CNN, P700,000 worth of illegal medicine declared as “vitamin pills” were seized. The Bureau of Customs said the pills were shipment from Xiamen, Fujian, China. Moreover, the shipment was consigned to a man from Muntinlupa City.
In previous weeks, several Illegal Chinese medical businesses have also been discovered. Amid the coronavirus crisis in the Philippines, several clinics who catered Chinese nationals were apprehended by the police.
Moreover, the cases weren’t isolated. There were several accounts of similar businesses spread throughout Metro Manila.
One of the clinics raided by the police was located at an apartment on Friendship Highway in Angeles City, Pampanga. The clinic was said to be operated by a father and son duo. The Chinese nationals admitted to running operations for other Chinese.
Meanwhile, another clinic was raided in Makati. According to police reports, the illegal clinic was found on the fifth floor of a building in Makati City on Tuesday. Furthermore, Police Major Gideon Ines Jr. identified the suspects as David Lai, the head doctor, and Liao Songhua, the assistant.
