Philippine Airlines and AirAsia Are Preparing for Possible Flight Resumption Next Month
The Philippine Airlines and AirAsia are preparing for the possible flight resumption in June amid the general community quarantine.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade announced that several domestic airlines will be allowed to operate from GCQ to GCQ areas in June 2020. The travel restrictions will be eased in several areas particularly in Metro Manila.
PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said that Philippine Airlines is glad to resume its regular commercial operations. However, PAL would still finalize the flight schedules and routes.
Villanuna said that PAL is currently coordinating with the national government authorities and could inform the public once the new policy has been finalized.
AirAsia Philippines communications head David de Castro said that the airline is planning to slowly resume the domestic flights by next month. He also advised their clients to check their official website
“We are currently checking with aviation authorities and respective LGUs for their own guidelines regarding the opening of local airports, as some may still possibly be closed in June,” De Castro said.
Starting June 1, 2020, Metro Manila, Davao City, Pangasinan, Albay, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon would shift to general community quarantine.
