Duterte Orders Agencies To Send Home Repatriated OFWs Within A Week
REPATRIATED OFWs – Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) stuck in Manila due to quarantine restrictions are to be sent home to their provinces said President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, these OFWs are stuck in Manila waiting for the results of their COVID-19 swab tests. However, Duterte ordered the labor, health, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration to send the OFWs home within a week.
Furthermore, Roque said that Duterte understood that hardships and the sacrifice the OFWs made for the country and for their family. He added that these OFWs would have a hard time with the expenses needed while waiting for the results to arrive.

Moreover, Duterte said that OFWs could now avail of government services and resources as well as whatever means of transportation to get them home. Along with this, the President also ordered agencies to increase the COVID-19 testing in other areas.
Based on an article from ABS-CBN, Roque explained that the additional testings would allow OFWs to get home quicker and take the results in their provinces instead. But, as of last week, there were just 35 accredited COVID-19 testing facilities worldwide.
Currently, the Philippines has over 14,000 reported coronavirus cases. Of this number, 3,249 have recovered from the virus. However, 868 individuals have succumbed to the deadly virus.
