Based on the report from CBS News, unconfirmed reports on social media stated that there are some survivors. The plane crash happened just days after the travel ban was lifted that was implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The devastating accident also happened as the Pakistanis across the country are doing the preparation for their celebration of the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.

Based on the report, the record of military and civilian aviation safety of Pakistan has been tarnished with frequent plane and helicopter crashes over the years.

Back in 2016, a plane’s turboprop engine of Pakistan International Airlines failed and it burst with flame while it was taking its flight from the remote northern to Islamabad. That accident left 40 people dead.

Four years after, another devastating plane crash happened. Pakistan’s GEO TV shared this video showing that the emergency crew was trying to go through thick smoke to reach the crash scene.

Abdul Sattar Khokhar, the spokesman for the country’s aviation authority said that the plane crashed as it was traveling from Lahore to Karachi, based on the report. According to the statement from witnesses, the Airbus A320 appeared to be trying to land several times before it hit the houses near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.
