DTI: About 500 Individuals Nabbed For Scam, Overpricing
DTI – The Department of Trade and Industry said that about 500 people were arrested for scam and overpricing amid the pandemic.
According to a report from GMA News, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said that te department has been working with an intelligence team from the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
“Minsan po nagba-buy bust pa ang aming team. Aside from DTI, meron po tayong intelligence group from PNP-CIDG at NBI,”
“Dahil po naging successful naman ang ating campaign, kulang sa 500 na po ang nahuli diyan,”
Among the violations mostly include selling fake or below standard products and overpricing.
As per the report, Lopez urged the public to report to the department if they spot similar experiences with their purchase via their consumer hotline 1-384.
NBI Cybercrime Division chief Victor Lorenzo said last month that cybercrime incidents in the nation has risen up to 100% amid the ECQ or enhanced community quarantine.
