Cops Raid Underground Hospital of Chinese COVID-19 Patients in Pampanga
Police have discovered an underground hospital for Chinese nationals who have been infected with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Pampanga.
A former leisure villa has been discovered to be operated with a seven-bed capacity and has its own drugstore, whose medicines are all from China and are not registered with the Food and Drug Administration.
The underground hospital found many medical wastes place inside plastic containers with no covers. Among the medical wastes found were used syringes, IV tubes, and medicine bottles.
According to the report of GMA News, the makeshift COVID-19 hospital has no permit to operate from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.
According to Police Brigadier General Rhoderick Armamento, deputy director for administration of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the operation of the illegal treatment is very dangerous.
A Chinese patient was taken by the authorities from the secret hospital and transferred to a real hospital. Armamento said they would look for all the patients who were confined to the said secret hospital. It is possible that the patients are infected and that they may infect other people.
Law enforcement officials have arrested fake hospital administrators and pharmacists. They face charges of violating the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 and the Medical Act of 1958.
