Canada, US Extends Travel Ban Between Each Other For 30 Days – Trudeau
CANADA, US EXTENDS TRAVEL BAN – The United States and Canada agreed on extending the travel ban between their borders for an additional 30 days.
On Tuesday, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated the decision was made for the safety of each country. Previously, the ban was to be imposed until May 21.
Moreover, the Prime Minister stated all of Canada’s provinces wanted the extension to be pushed through. Additionally, he said that Washington was “very open” to the extension of the travel ban.
Currently, the United States continued to struggle against the new coronavirus. Since last month, America has been the worst coronavirus-hit country in the world.
Furthermore, the state had continued struggles with residents holding rallies and breaking quarantine protocols. Along with this, states also face challenges with religious groups who want to continue services amid the pandemic.
Meanwhile, according to a report from GMA, Canada’s coronavirus death toll increased by 1% on Monday. Health authorities previously recorded 5,805 deaths from COVID-19 which only rose to 5,857, the lowest daily increase since the epidemic started.
Currently, Canada has tested at least 1,339,971 citizens. Of that number, 79,101 have tested positive for COVID-19. Along with this, the number of deaths had rose to 5,912.
This would still equate to about a 1 percent increase in the number of daily deaths with 55 new deaths from the previous count. Still, the situation in the United States remains to be worse.
New York, the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, borders Ontario and Quebec, Canada’s two most populated provinces.
