Why Vice Ganda doesn’t want to lend money to his friends
Kapamilya comedian-host Vice Ganda revealed why he has his own “huwag magpautang” policy to his friends.
Vice, as it is known to many came from humble beginnings as a stand-up comedian in bars. He would sometimes relate to his audience his simple life as a child, teenager, and until he found entered the world of comedy.
From that, he was able to establish his name in the entertainment industry, not just a comedian but also as a host, endorser, and recording artist. It is also safe to say that his various showbiz stints were able to give him millions.
However, despite that he has all the resources, Vice Ganda shared in a recent Facebook Live that as much as possible he avoids lending money to his friends. “Maraming pagkakataon sa buhay ko, na yung kaibigan ko naging kaaway ko matapos ko pautangin. So hindi ako magpapautang,” he shared.
On the other hand, the comedian said that he can extend help to a friend but it will still depend on the situation. “Aabutan na lang kita ng kung anong kaya ko lang. Help ko na lang sa ‘yo. Yung kulang, bahala ka na dumiskarte sa pamamaraang alam mo. Siguro minsan sa sobrang awa na rin, at pag kailangang-kailangan talaga, baka magpautang ako,” he explained.
As much as possible, Vice also doesn’t want other people to grow dependence on him, especially when it comes to the financial aspect. “Pero hindi ko uugaliin na pagbigyan sila. Kasi habang inuugali mo na pagbigyan sila, dine-develop mo rin yung pag-uugali nila na umutang na lang nang umutang,” the comedian said.
He also explained that he knows the feeling of “walang-wala” because he went through that phase in his life. However, according to Vice, this situation will make a person to strive harder in life.
Despite having this own policy, Vice Ganda said that there are still certain circumstances that he would lend money or help a friend because he knows they deserve it.
“Pero may mga tao rin talaga na abusado. Yung mga abusado, dapat iparamdam mo sa kanila, ‘Girl, abusado ka, hindi mo deserve ng tulong,’” he said, based on the article from Bandera.
