Man Was Shot Dead After Allegedly Wounded a Quarantine Volunteer

CEBU CITY – A man was shot dead after he allegedly wounded a quarantine volunteer at the checkpoint on Monday morning, May 18, 2020.

According to the report of Sunstar, the victim injured a quarantine volunteer in an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) check-up point on Saturday, May 16, 2020, in Sitio Punt Alaska, Brgy. Mambaling.

The victim was identified as John Muaña, a resident of Sitio Naba in the same Barangay. The victim was dead on arrival when he was rushed to the hospital by medical personnel, said PMsgt. Nicolo Gonzales, chief investigator of the Mambaling Police Station.

According to the witness, he was on his parked e-bike when he heard several gunshots as the incident happened. The victim was then found lying on the ground, as said on the police investigation.

The Mambaling Police Station learned that the victim, Muaña was the person who injured the 34-year-old quarantine volunteer, Jopith Conol after he was denied from entering the barangay. Muaña allegedly wanted to buy shabu from the said barangay.
