Coco Martin Urges Filipinos To Follow Govt’s Guidelines
COCO MARTIN – Kapamilya star Coco Martin urged fellow his fellow citizens to follow the government’s directives relative to COVID-19 response.
Filipino actor Coco Martin is the lead actor and director of the longest-running tv show in the Philippines, ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’ The production of his top-rated show halted amid the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
On May 5, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order against his tv network. Coco was one of the artists who reacted to the untimely closure of the company.
Coco Martin’s statements following ABS-CBN’s shutdown elicited mixed reactions from the online community. In a previous article, Filipino rapper Aklas expressed his reaction to the viral statement of the actor.
Aklas said Coco should stop acting like a victim because the real victim in this crisis is the citizens who didn’t receive cash assistance from the government.
During the first episode of the online rap battle show “Promdibate,” Coco Martin gave a message to his fellow Filipinos. He urged the public to obey the government’s directive to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The 38-year-old celebrity also acknowledged the sacrifices of the frontliners. The country’s healthcare workers, doctors, and nurses are risking their lives every day just to save the lives of their patients.
“Nakikiusap po kami sa lahat ng mga Filipino na sana po ay sumunod tayo sa panuntunan ng ating gobyerno. Hanggang ngayon po ay wala pa ring gamot laban sa virus na kumakalat sa buong mundo. Marami na po ang namatay at patuloy pa rin po ang pagkalat ng virus. Sa ngayon po, tanging disiplina at pakikipagkooperasyon ang ating panlaban. Pagod na pagod na po ang ating frontliners at marami sa ating doctors at nurses ang nagbuwis ng kanilang buhay upang mailigtas lang po tayo. Kaya please nakikiusap po kami sana po ay sumunod na tayo,” he said.
