Quezon City Aims For Mobile COVID-19 Testing Center

MOBILE COVID-19 TESTING CENTER – Quezon City is set to launch a mobile coronavirus testing center according to Mayor Joy Belmonte.

In the Philippines, Quezon City is considered as one of the COVID-19 hotspots in the country. Previously, it was the area with the most number of COVID-19 cases.

However, following the mass testing conducted, Cebu now has the most number of cases in the Philippines. As such, mass testing is being called for by thousands of residents.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, Quezon looks to test around 31,000 residents. This would be equal to about 1% of the city’s population as recommended by the Department of Health.

Moreover, the city currently conducts 300 to 350 tests per day and had screened at least 8,000 people. As per the report, Belmonte stated:

We are in the process of launching our mobile test center na isang bus na iikot. I’m trying to get 2 bus o truck that goes around the communities,

Currently, the Philippines has over 11,000 cases of COVID-19 with numbers increases at an average of 200 cases per day. Along with this, the country also has the least recovery rate from the virus compared to the fatality rate.

Moreover, according to statistical data, the country also has the strictest lockdown protocols in place within Asia. However, even with the strict measures, the country was reported to be ineffective against containing the spread of COVID-19.

Worldwide, the number of coronavirus cases has ballooned to at least 4,800,000 cases. Along with this, over 300,000 have succumbed to the virus with more than 1,860,000 recovering from the disease.
