Negros Oriental Barangay Kagawad Shot While Taking Care of Cow
BARANGAY KAGAWAD – A kagawad in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental was shot while he was tending his cow.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis that the Philippines is facing right now, there are still several other unfortunate incidents happening in the different parts of the country.
In fact, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has previously warned the New People’s Army and other rebels not to take the aid extended by the government to the people. It was after reports of some citizens whose government aid was allegedly taken away by members of the NPA crossed the surface.
Recently, another unfortunate incident took place. In the province of Negros Oriental, a kagawad was shot by a suspected members of the New People’s Army.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, barangay kagawad Elpedio Julwar Mahinay of Guihulngan, Negros Oriental was shot while he was tending his cow. Several men suspected as members of the NPA came near him and lodged their motives.
According to the report, the suspicions that the people behind the incident are members of the NPA came as the group warned people who are working in the government and the military. It was prior to them leaving the place.
Since May 10, four (4) barangay officials died. Recently, a broadcaster was also shot in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental by suspects in motorcycle. Such incidents leave families crying for justice over the sudden death of their loved one.
Currently, the investigation is still ongoing regarding the case of Mahinay. More updates may be posted soon.
