KathNiel broke silence on ABS-CBN franchise issue
Celebrity couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, also known as KathNiel, finally spoke about the issue concerning the ABS-CBN franchise.
For the longest time, the couple has been silent about issues like this. However, on Wednesday, they chose to speak for what they believe. Apparently, their hesitations to express their views concerning politics and social issues came from trauma.
Several netizens recalled what happened in 2016 when Kathryn and Daniel endorsed presidential candidate Mar Roxas. Apparently, the bashing that they received created a wall encompassing them.
Now, that the welfare of their home network is at stake, they gathered their strength and together speak for what they believe. In Kathryn’s statement, she mentioned that her past experience was the reason that she chose to be silent for the longest time.
“Kasi noong huling beses po na ginamit ko ang ‘yong platform ko sa usaping politika, hindi naging maganda ‘yong nangyari,” she said. Kathryn also encouraged her fellow youth not to be afraid to stand for what they believe. She also quoted her line from her movie saying, “ang choice, para lang sa may pera.”
However, she stressed out that “ang choice, hindi lang yan dapat sa may pera” as she is more concerned about the employees who are now jobless and those Filipinos who only depend on free entertainment and information on TV.
Meanwhile, Daniel Padilla said that there is no wrong if someone is willing to fight for what he or she believes in. He also thanked everyone who showed support for ABS-CBN amid the network’s crisis. The actor also asked people to open their hearts to the predicaments of other people.
