WOW China Described By Solon As “Another Blunder” Of PCOO

WOW CHINA ANOTHER BLUNDER – The State-run radio broadcasting network under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has received tremendous flack.

In the previous months, Philippine social media has been presented with several sponsored ads favoring China. PAGCOR has paid sponsored ads to show the benefits of POGOs and our own State-run radio broadcasting network had a program called “WOW China“.

This led to several netizens and lawmakers to lament on the situation. Likewise, Bayan Muna Rep. Ferdinand Gaite described the program as a “blunder” from the PCOO.

Radyo Pilipinas is a radio station of the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) operating under the PCOO. However, even with the name of the country embedded, it still presents pro-China content, despite tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

While there is nothing wrong about appreciating the rich cultures of our Asian neighbors, this show is really unpleasant to the ears as it comes at the heels of China’s repeated disrespect of our territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Ferdinand Gaite

According to Inquirer, he emphasized that the Philippines was hard at work promoting better relations to China. Meanwhile, China is working hard to tighten its grip on the West Philippine Sea, he added.

We’re blasting Chinese propaganda on our radio, and they’re blasting Filipino fishermen off our waters and pointing guns at our navy

Moreover, he highlighted how netizens should have all the right to be furious about the radio program. He explained that the government doesn’t share the same sentiments it has for protecting our interest at the same level as they promoted China.

It’s almost treasonous if it isn’t yet, he added.

It would be good to know what other projects are in this contract between the Philippines and China, and also know to what extent would the PCOO act as a PR machinery of the Chinese government
