SAP Beneficiary Signing Form Dead After Shot by Barangay Chairman
LEYTE – A beneficiary of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of government died after being shot by a barangay chairman while signing the form.
A man in Albuera, Leyte who was a qualified beneficiary of the Social Amelioration Program of the government was killed after allegedly shot by his barangay chairman while signing a form.
According to the report of GMA News, the Barangay chairman was identified as Andres Cruz Paulito Patonog. He allegedly shot the victim in front of other beneficiaries.
The victim was shot while signing the SAP form amid the distribution period of the government assistance in their barangay. Cruz said the victim seemed to have a bad plan on him so he shot him.
The suspect was immediately arrested after the incident. The victim’s relatives and neighbors could not accept the incident. According to them, almost all listed beneficiaries in their area have yet to receive any assistance
Since the SAP are being distributed to residents whose livelihoods are greatly affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis, there are lot of disputes and commotion between barangay officials and beneficiaries. Other incidents involved physical assaults and worst happen when someone got died.
