Residents of Makati will Receive P5,000 Cash Aid from Local Government

MAKATI CITY – The city government of Makati City announced Monday that “Makatizens” or residents of the city will receive P5,000 cash assistance.

Mayor Abby Binay said the local government has allocated P2.7 billion for the “Makati Economic Relief Program” (MERP) project. Residents of the age 18 and above can benefit and residents of Makati city relocation sites in Calauan Laguna and San Jose Del Monte Bulacan.

According to the Facebook post of Makati, the cash assistance will begin Friday, May 15, with the goal of helping nearly 500,000 individuals there. The mayor clarified that the beneficiary’s economic status does not include the criteria.

She added that financial assistance is per resident and not per family. Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said that if married, they would receive P10,000. If the couple has a child 18 years of age or older they will receive a total of P18,000.

Assistance will be sent through G-Cash to maintain contactless distribution as well. The project also includes those who previously received financial aid from the local government and the national government’s social amelioration program.

For those without a Makatizen card, Binay has announced that they can apply online, you can apply for such assistance using the Makatizen App or submit an application form to a barangay staff to distribute at home.
