An article from Panay News states that the Negros Occidental capital Mayor Evelio Leonardia will present a proposal to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) which allows the shift to a transition to general community quarantine (GCQ) after the second extension.

It is now up to the IATF to approve the proposal, Leonardia said.

“Any highly-urbanized city or provincial governments can no longer make its own decision to place their respective areas either on ECQ or GCQ without the approval of the IATF because this is the present guidelines of the national government,”

The mayor, however, stressed that there should be a gradual transition as the virus is indeed lethal and unprecedented in its harm to the health of the public to a point that they cannot underestimate the existing local transmission of the virus in the city.

As the report, after the approval from the IATF, the mayor said that he will issue an executive order which contains the guidelines for the transition.

There are about 11 confirmed cases of COVID-19, among them were six recoveries and three deaths.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson also sent his proposal to the IATF for the GCQ extension in the province.
