NAIA International Flights Resuming May 11 – CAAP

CAAP Says NAIA International Flights Resuming On Monday

NAIA INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS RESUMING – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will continue international flights on Monday, May 11.

Moreover, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said NAIA would have chartered and commercial planes scheduled on specific days.

Previously, all commercial flights in NAIA were suspended as a countermeasure against the spread of COVID-19. Likewise, eight other airports were also suspended a week ago.

Meanwhile, NAIA would remain operations on limited capacity. Additionally, there would be a cap on the number of passenger arrivals. Furthermore, social distancing protocols would also be imposed.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, CAAP said inbound international chartered flights will only be allowed on Mondays and Thursdays. However, this would still be upon clearance from the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Following this, CAAP stated that international commercial flights would be allowed to land during Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

But, before being allowed access, airlines still needed to secure approval from CAAP two days before the scheduled flight from the airport of origin. This is done for the slotting and rescheduling of flights due to NAIA’s 400 daily passenger limit.

Additionally, CAAP stated that the flight arrangement will be in effect until June 10 at the Manila airport. Meanwhile, other international airports in the Philippines would have their own restrictions based on the status of COVID-19.

However, the NOTAM does not include emergency, cargo, military, and maintenance flights. These flights were allowed to operate after last week’s flight suspension.
