Amid the crisis, San Miguel Corporation donates
San Miguel Corporation donates ten (10) quarantine facilities to the Armed Forces of the Philippines to be used amid the health crisis in the Philippines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SMC is one of the biggest multinational conglomerate companies in the country and it has done initiatives to extend help in this trying time. One of its recent projects is a partnership with AFP.
Based on the recent post on the official Facebook account of the company, it has announced that the turn-over ceremony has happened just recently. “We are thankful to the AFP for letting us partner with them on a project much needed during this time. These facilities will help free up hospital beds for those who need it most,” the post stated.
It was also stated each quarantine facility can house up to 15 COVID-19 patients both symptomatic and asymptomatic. The company sees this crisis as an opportunity to work together. “Sama-sama. Walang iwanan,” the post also said.
Also included in the post is a timeline of the project and the locations of the facilities. On April 22, SMC turned over a facility at Western Mindanao Command. Following that day, two facilities were turned over to AFP located at Northern Luzon Command in Tarlac and Eastern Mindanao Command in Davao.
The quarantine facility that was built at the Southern Luzon Command in Laguna was turned over on April 24 while on April 28, the Naval Aviation Group, Philfleet Sangley received the donation.
SMC also turned over a facility to Veterans’ Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City last April 29 and on May 1, the company donated to Central Command in Cebu and Joint Task Force NCR (AFP General Headquarters).
On May 6, Western Command in Palawan and Col. Jesus Villamor Airbase in Pasay City received the donated quarantine facilities.
