The president offers P30,000 reward money to those who can give information on local government officials stealing the financial aid for the poor beneficiaries, the presidential spokesperson, Harry Roque, officially announced after the president’s public address.

Roque urged the public to report any corruption activities, particularly stealing and taking advantage of the distribution of government’s assistance to the poor families by reporting on government hotline 8888. He added that they should leave their name and contact number when filing the complaint.

In his public address late last night regarding government response to the COVID-19 pandemic, President Duterte mentioned the barangay councilor in Bulacan who has been accused of taking the half of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) aid from the recipients.

“Mahirap na nga, ikaw may trabaho ka na, kagawad ka, p*tangina, kukunin mo pa yung pera ng mahirap,” he said.

Duterte asked city mayors to check on the people who are tasked to do the distribution of cash aid. He also directed officials to the give the subsidies to woman of the household only as he expresses his concern that the money might be wasted on gambling and drinking by men.
