Mystery Illness Associated With Kawasaki Disease Infects 15 Kids

MYSTERY ILLNESS INFECTS 15 – Amid the coronavirus pandemic, a mystery illness known as the Kawasaki disease has infected 15 children.

Recently, health officials from New York have received reports of a mysterious syndrome that is still unknown. Moreover, all infected children who were positive with COVID-19.

Likewise, several European countries also reported the same mysterious syndrome in their hospital. As such, experts believe the syndrome may be connected to COVID-19.

Based on a report from New York Times, health officials associated the mystery syndrome with an illness known as “Kawasaki Disease”. Symptoms of this rare disease are often found in children between 2 to 15 years old.

Inflammation of blood vessels, coronary arteries are just some of the symptoms of this disease. However, none of the children infected with the syndrome have died. Although the mystery illness was described as a “multisystem inflammatory syndrome potentially associated with Covid-19”.

As per the report, the syndrome received attention as cases began to appear in countries hit hard by COVID-19 in Europe. Although much is left to be discovered regarding the syndrome.

There are some recent rare descriptions of children in some European countries that have had this inflammatory syndrome, which is similar to the Kawasaki syndrome, but it seems to be very rare

However, the 15 patients infected with the syndrome in New York either tested positive for COVID-19 or had antibodies that suggest they were previously infected.

As such, health authorities urged parents to contact their doctor if their child experiences symptoms such as fever, rash, abdominal pain, or vomiting.
